Blippar app is available for download on iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone. The Blippar app recognizes products, images and graphics, and this recognition then triggers a response on a mobile device. Basically, you can scan objects and if they are blippar clients, this will trigger marketing and other service related content on your smartphone. Within three years of its inception, Blippar has grown the largest singularly acquired audience of any AR platform, with over 50 million unique and 50 million+ global interactions. Celebrating the launch, Blippar CEO and co-founder Ambarish Mitra said: ‘Given the rapid increase in penetration of smartphones in India, and the optimistic approach of brands towards AR, India is a focus market for Blippar. We are thrilled to launch here, and excited about enriching the country’s myriad industries and brands with immersive mobile content.’ Regional Director Arnav Ghosh added: ‘India will be a huge strategic hub for Blippar, a route into the wider Asiatic region. We are here to disrupt the Indian market with Blippar’s groundbreaking tech and unique vision.’ Blipar clients include some of the biggest names in the world, but partition of small businesses is also favored. Blippar sees enormous potential in India and the rest of Asia, and is eager to reinforce its presence in the region. Headquarters will be in Delhi, with representation in Mumbai and Bangalore, and the operation will become a hub for the whole region.
