Camera and Internal Storage
Karbonn Titanium S5i is one of the few entry level devices that come with an 8MP rear camera. It gets coupled with a LED flash. Even though it may not be a stellar performer, it will surely take care of your occasional imaging requirements. The front camera is a VGA camera which will be facilitating video calling. Though high quality of video calling can’t be expected, it will get your work done nonetheless. The internal storage of the Titanium S5i stands at 4GB out of which about 2.2GB will be user available. It can be further expanded by another 32GB with the help of a microSD card slot. This is the storage capacity you usually get in an entry level device so we won’t really complain about it.
Processor and Battery
Ticking inside the Titanium S5i is a 1 GHz dual core processor which comes from Mediatek and it teams up with a 512MB RAM for multitasking. The two work well together if used for light multitasking but we suggest you refrain from running heavier applications. A 2,000 mAh battery is what gives it the life to run for almost a day and it falls a little short of the same. It is an entry level smartphone with some entry level specs so the battery does justice to them and you can’t really expect more out of it for the price you are paying.
Display and Features
The display unit is a 5 inch screen which has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The screen may not be one of the brightest units to look at but it does not cost a lot either. So it gives you the big screen experience on a budget so it is a good thing. It runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and expecting an update in the software arena would be too much of an overkill as you usually do not get updates in the budget segment. It is available in Deep Blue colour. For connectivity, you get 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth with A2DP and GPS so it scores well in this department.
Comparison
Its main competitors will be the Lava Iris 406Q and the Nokia X which retail for the exact same price. Both of them come with a smaller screen. The Lava offering gets a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and has been promised an Android KitKat update too. If you can do away with a smaller screen, the Lava offering makes a lot more sense.
Key Specs
