Front Camera Samples
The Mi Max comes with a 5 MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera takes crisp and detailed shots in daylight condition but struggles in low light condition. The selfies with extreme low light had a fair amount of noise.
Rear Camera Samples
The Mi Max comes with a 16 MP primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture. We took pictures in various lighting conditions to test the camera. The images were best during natural lighting.
Artificial Light
In artificial light, the pictures on the Mi Max came out to be good. The HDR mode on the device is quite good and the camera was quick to capture the images even in HDR mode. The focus was also nice due to the PDAF
Natural Light
The pictures in natural light were way better compared to the artificial lighting. The images were quite detailed and crisp. The colors were natural and the overall picture quality was much better. Just like most other devices, the camera worked great in natural lighting.
Low Light
The low light pictures on the Xiaomi Mi Max wasn’t that bad too. The dual-tone LED flash worked fine. Though the quality was nowhere near to the shots taken in natural lighting condition but the images came out to be good out when taken with a flash. The images taken in extreme low light condition where having a quite a bit of noise else the quality was good.
Xiaomi Mi Max Camera Verdict
Overall this phone doesn’t disappoint us in the camera department. The shots taken in natural lighting came out to be very good and detailed. The artificial light shots weren’t very great but weren’t bad either. The front camera takes quite detailed selfies in good light. The focus is quick and shutter speed is also quite fast. The images in low light could have been better but the overall quality of both the primary and secondary camera is reasonable.
